Politician faults Kwam 1's 'appointment'

Legit.ng had reported that Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, said on Wednesday morning, August 13, that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) would appoint Kwam 1 as an ambassador for airport security protocol.

The minister stated that the move is part of measures to ensure celebrities help promote proper conduct at airports across the country, adding that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reduced Kwam 1’s flight ban to one month.

Furthermore, Keyamo disclosed that the NCAA will also withdraw the criminal complaints earlier lodged with the police against the music star.

The development comes in the wake of the artiste’s apology, where he stated that the flask he held contained medically-prescribed water, not alcohol, as alleged by airport officials. Kwam 1 had infamously clashed with airport officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Addressing critics, Keyamo maintained that the government’s decisions have been fair and transparent.

On Thursday morning, August 14, Bagos, who spoke as a guest on a Channels Television programme, warned that the move to make Kwam 1 an ambassador could set an unpleasant precedent.

His words:

“With all the drama, now he is an ambassador, meaning everybody will start moving with the flask, do drama to become an ambassador.
“No matter the explanation, the perception of Nigerians is that it is entirely wrong."
