Popular Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has responded to the rumours and the backlash she faced on social media over her viral video at her senior colleague Odunlade Adekola's father's burial.
Recall that Eniola was one of the Nollywood stars who attended Odunlade's father's burial ceremony in Otun Ekiti, Ekiti state.

However, she came under intense criticism after a recording went viral showing her facial expression after exchanging pleasantries with Odunlade's wife.
Legit.ng reported that a lady described Eniola Ajao as a hypocrite who allegedly dated the Nollywood actor.
She questioned if Odunlade's wife was smelling, as Ajao appeared to make a strange facial expression while pretending to read a paper that she turned upside down.
Eniola Ajao reacts to Odunlade Adekola controversy
In a series of posts via her Instagram story on Tuesday, August 26, Eniola shared a message to people spreading rumours about her. According to the actress, she has stopped trying to change people's perception about her:
"Life hits differently when you stop trying to prove you didn't say that, do that, or you're not like that. You can't fix every lie and every rumour, nor can you defend yourself every time something is said about you. Just be great.
"People may destroy your image, stain your personality, but they can't take away your good deeds because no matter how they describe you, you will still be admired by those who know you better," the post read.
Eniola also shared a message she received from a fan who encouraged her to maintain her relationship with Odunlade irrespective of the rumours.
According to the fan, an average African doesn't believe a man and a woman can have a perfect friendship or cohabit without any strings attached.
"It is too late for you to move away from Odunlade just because of the noise," the fan wrote.

A media and communications expert, Babatope Omosebi, has said silence is not always the best strategy for celebrities facing sensitive rumors, as seen in the controversy surrounding Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao.
“From a communications standpoint, silence alone is rarely the most effective strategy when faced with sensitive rumors, as it can be misinterpreted as admission and leaves others to control the narrative,” Omosebi told Legit.ng.
He cautioned that “directly confronting such rumors may also prolong their visibility.”
According to him, the best approach is neither complete silence nor lengthy rebuttals but a values-driven response:
“The most effective approach is a balanced one, instead of outright silence or detailed rebuttals, a subtle, values-driven response, such as reinforcing one’s integrity, urging fairness, or redirecting attention to positive contributions, can help maintain dignity while discouraging further speculation.”
Omosebi pointed out that such communication allows a public figure to “retain some narrative control without amplifying the gossip as seen in Eniola Ajao’s reflective post, which neither fueled the gossip nor ignored it entirely.”
