Award-winning Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has spoken openly about her intense approach to relationships, admitting that she loves deeply but also cuts people off completely when hurt.
Her words came at a tense moment, following a public clash with fellow actress Toyin Abraham.

Last weekend at the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s film The Return of Arinzo, a video showed Toyin Abraham trying to greet Akindele, who ignored her.
The clip quickly went viral, leading both actresses to unfollow each other on Instagram and sparking heated reactions online.
In a fresh interview clip on The Morayo Show hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Funke Akindele acknowledged that she often comes across as extreme in friendships.
She explained that she is fully committed to those she cares about, but can shut the door completely when betrayed.
Funke revealed that actor Uzee Usman once advised her to be more accepting as a leader in the industry, and not just shut doors to everyone.
“I must say I’m not proud of that, and I'm also proud of it, because there must be a balance. I thank God for someone like Uzee Usman in my life. He sat me down, he said, " You’re a leader, you go dey accept people as them be no be every door you go dey close.”

The actress further described herself as real, tough, imperfect and sometimes troublesome, emphasising that human relationships matter to her and that she is learning daily.
She stated that no matter what the situation may be, she has to protect her mental health as she is growing older by the day.
“I’m an extremist I love hard, I’m real, I’m not prefect I can be troublesome, I’m tough. Human relationships for me is very important and I’m learning everyday. No matter what happens, my mental health is very important.”
