Singer and activist Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has shared a surprising story about a dawn visit from Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

In a Facebook post titled “The Day Peter Obi Surprised Me With Ghana Must Go,” Charly Boy said Obi phoned him around 1 a.m. asking if he could drop by very early in the morning.

Charly Boy wrote:

“Peter Obi call me say, ‘My Senior bros, I wan come see you, but I no too sure if u fit don wake about the time I for like come""

Though reluctant about his morning exercise being disturbed, the entertainer agreed.

True to his word, Obi showed up at exactly 5:45 a.m., carrying a large Ghana Must Go bag that immediately caught attention.

The veteran singer said he initially ignored the bag while they spent almost two hours chatting about Nigeria, politics, and family.

When Obi finally left, curiosity pushed him to peep inside. To his shock, the bag wasn’t filled with money or luxury items but with traditional snacks handpicked by Obi himself.

He recounted:

“Inside the bag were 3 bottles of roasted groundnuts. Many alegator peppers, kola nuts, pawpaw, oranges, agara, mangos, bananas etc. wey Obi pack by himself. I just no know when I fall for ground begin laugh."

Charly Boy revealed that when he called the ex-governor later to thank him, the politician gave a humble reply:

The gesture, he said, touched him far deeper than cash could.

He wrote:

“Sometimes na the little things go remind you say life no too hard. Na kolanut and bitter kola wey Obi dash me sweet me pass money."

VDM speaks on Charly Boy bus stop renaming

VDM has reacted to the recent change in the name of one of the popular bus stops in Lagos State. A few days ago, it was announced that Charly Boy Bus Stop has been renamed to Baddo Bus Stop.

The video came as a surprise to many, with reactions flooding social media as people dragged the Yorubas and the Igbos.

Sharing his thoughts on the name change, VDM noted that this was a typical “mind game” played every time an election approaches.
