Nigerian Bank Invites Students to Apply for Its Scholarship, Deadline Nears

Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, the parent company of Stanbic Bank has announced the 2024/2025 edition of its University Scholarship Programme for Nigerian undergraduates.

The bank, in a statement, said the initiative is part of its long-standing commitment to empowering young people through education and capacity-building programmes.

It listed other programmes for youths to include the Youth Leadership Series (YLS), Higher Institution Football League (HIFL), Together4ALimb, Digital Skill Empowerment Programme (DiSEP), and Adopt-A-School.

Details about Stanbic Bank scholarship programme

Stanbic IBTC scholarship programme is open to students who participated in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and have gained admission into any Nigerian state or federal university.

In his remarks, Kunle Adedeji, Acting Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, spoke on the importance of the initiative:

“Education remains the most powerful catalyst for transformation, both for individuals and for our nation.
"Through our scholarship programme, we're not simply funding tuition, we're investing in Nigeria's future leaders, innovators, and change-makers who will shape the trajectory of our country for decades to come.”

He added that the organisation recognises the importance and impact of education in the life of every Nigerian youth.

Scholarship requirements

  • Applicants are required to submit the following documents for the 2024/2025 Stanbic IBTC University Scholarship:
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Valid ID card (NIN slip, voter’s card, birth certificate, or international passport)
  • 2024 UTME result with a minimum score of 250

Application process

After filling out the required information through the official application link, applicants are expected to send the requested documents to UniversityScholarship@stanbicibtc.com

Applicants are also encouraged to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for more information about the scholarship.

The deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, 16 September 2025. Any extension will be communicated through Stanbic IBTC’s official platforms.

The bank added:

Sterling Bank invests over N2 billion in scholarships

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Sterling Bank has pledged over N2 billion for fully-funded private university scholarships aimed at young Nigerians.

The program is open to applicants from all 36 states and the FCT, with a merit-based admissions process and public voting for final selection.

The Sterling Beyond Education program will provide full sponsorship for 600 students to pursue studies in high-impact areas like Technology, Finance, Sales, and Public Health. It is available to young Nigerians from all 36 states and the FCT, with a merit-based and inclusive admissions process.
