The articles, published on August 22, 25, and 27, 2025, accused Haske and his aviation subsidiary, Mars Aviation Limited, of money laundering, political sponsorship, and questionable dealings with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC).

In a statement released through their lawyers, Banwo & Ighodalo, the company strongly denied the claims. They clarified that Haske is not a fugitive, noting that he honoured an EFCC invitation on July 23, 2025, was granted administrative bail, and is presently abroad receiving medical care. His absence from a subsequent EFCC appointment, they added, was strictly due to health reasons.

The statement also explained that Mars Aviation Limited has been operating legitimately since 2018, providing helicopter and private jet services to NNPC and other clients under valid agreements. Payments received, they stressed, were for lawful services and had no link to political activities.

Addressing rumours about family connections, the notice emphasised that Haske neither conducts business with his father-in-law, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, nor engages in his political interests.

It also described Haske as a respected entrepreneur who built a group of nine subsidiaries before turning 40 and holds the traditional title of Ciroma-Ganye of Adamawa.

Through their legal representatives, Haske and Mars Aviation demanded that The Africa Report withdraw the articles across all its platforms, publish an apology, and pay N500 million in damages for harm done to his reputation. They warned that failure to comply would lead to legal action in Nigeria and other jurisdictions.

Responding personally, Haske said:

“The reports are entirely false and deeply hurtful, not just to me but to my family, colleagues, and business partners. My life’s work has been about building Nigerian enterprises that create jobs, empower young people, and contribute to our economy. I remain committed to this vision and will not be distracted by attempts to tarnish my reputation.”

AA&R Group added that, despite the reports, its operations remain strong, with over 100 employees and investments spanning five industries.
