LASU Tuition Fees May Be Reduced By 30...40% On June 10, 2014

Lagos State Government may soften its stance and announce a reduction of Lagos State University (LASU) tuition fees on June 10, 2014, Tuesday, Vanguard reports.

The decrease may vary between 30 and 40 % and would reduce tensions between the students of the institutions and both LASU administration and the state government.

The Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola has created an Executive Committee, which had to investigate all the issues surrounding the “tuition fee hike”. The government has already received its report.

It has been gathered that the committee submitted its findings to the state Executive Council. The council had conducted a five-hour-long fruitful deliberations on the report.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lateef Ibirogba, the final decision might be made during June 10, 2014, Tuesday, after more thorough checks and analysis.

It would be recalled that the drastic increase of school fees from a reasonable N25,000 to a jaw-dropping N350,000 has sparked multiple protests, blocking various areas in Lagos, including Ikeja Airport road.

LASU students even marched to Governor Fashola’s office, forwarded an appeal to him, as well as started cooking and dancing in front of the Government House in Alausa, Ikeja.
