Kidnappers of Rivers PDP chieftain demand N30m ransom.

Kidnappers of Rivers PDP chieftain demand N30m ransom.

N30mn – this sum is required by the abductors of Dicken Worlu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state.

Worlu has become one of the four PDP members kidnapped in the last two weeks.

He was abducted from his residence in Port Harcourt on March 4 by unknown gunmen.

On Sunday (today), the kidnappers contacted the family of the hostage to demand a ransom.

The Worlu's wife Patricia told the members of the National Association of Seadogs that the family does not have the sum that the abductors demanded.

"The family has not been the same since the sad incident. We are appealing to the kidnappers to have pity on the family and release my husband," she said.

Punch reports that it still has not been possible to reach the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammad, to speak on the matter.

Chinyere Igwe, Ikechi Chinda and Allwell Ihunwo, who were kidnapped, were released on Thursday.

The same day the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Tunde Ogunsakin, siad his administration would not tolerate kidnapping in the state.
