Trading Among Makoko Slum Dwellers
Like every other town, Makoko, the slum on water in Lagos also engages in business for the sustenance of the people.

Fish farming seems to be the dominant business among Makoko slum dwellers. The people however cannot live on what they produce alone which is why they have mobile shops on water that cater for their needs.

Legit.ng’s crew visited the town and observed how the people go about their business. As expected, trading is done on water. They arrange their wares on the canoe and row from one part of the town to another. Buyers too sometimes paddled their canoe in search of items and when an agreement has been reached, the good is transferred from one canoe to another.
