Kasahmu Buruji Floods Ogun State With Jonathan Rice

With less than 12 days to the February 14 presidential election, Kashamu Buruji has reportedly stormed Ogun State with thousands of bags of rice inscribed with President Goodluck Jonathan’s picture.

Sahara Reporters reported that Kashamu, who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Ogun East senatorial district, shipped the commodity which is currently kept in a warehouse in the state.

The bags of rice will soon be deployed to win the hearts of hungry residents to vote for Jonathan in the February 14 presidential election.

Kasahmu, however, remains on a United States wanted list after a US district court judge threw out his objections to a US prosecutors' extradition request over drug trafficking charges on US soil.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State chapter of the APC reportedly arrested five councillors over plots to defect from the ruling party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The stratagem of presenting bags of rice to hungry residents to lure them to vote might not be unconnected with the stomach infrastructure popularised by the Ekiti state governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, a development that was recently replicated by former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who reportedly gave out bags of rice, salt, vegetable oil, T-shirts and cash to many residents of the state.
