Photos of teenage boys armed with weapons have surfaced on the internet, with unconfirmed reports saying the boys are in one of the various camps of the Islamist group, Boko Haram, undergoing training.
The photos were posted on micro-blogging site, Twitter by one of Nigeria's most active online activists and journalists, Kayode Ogundamisi.
See the photos below:
The pictures have sparked reactions from Nigerians concerned about the new recruits to the insurgents.
One of Ogundamisi's followers on Twitter (@Hairlessbody) questions the Nigerian intelligence community saying, "these camps are they under the sea? Can't our NIA get to know the locations? This is just annoyingly sad".
Hakeem Ajao sums it up in one sentence, "This thing has become a VIRUS."
Usman Rabiu says, "May be true. Could recalled they also have gun training hideout in Maiduguri. They were chased out with emergence of CJTF"
However, Ogundamisi did not reveal the source of his photos, so it remains to be seen whether the photos are authentic or not.
In a related development, members of the campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who arrived Borno State to prepare for President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign rally are currently trapped in Maiduguri after a recent Boko Haram raid.
