Massive Outrage As Nigerian Lady Is Killed, Buried in Shallow Grave After Showing Up for Job Interview

A Nigerian lady, Iniubong Umoren, who went missing after she left her home to hunt for a job in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, has been reportedly found dead.

The young lady's friend, Uduak Umoh, with the handle @Umohuduak1, confirmed her death in a series of Twitter posts on Sunday, May 2. According to her, the criminals killed and buried her friend.

The lady had raised an alarm on Twitter on Thursday, April 29, over the disappearance of her friend, Umoren.

According to Umoh, the deceased had gone for a job interview at an undisclosed location along airport road in Uyo, the state capital. Some hours later, she got a frantic call from Umoren and that was the last time she heard from her as the phone has been switched off.

Reacting to the lady's cry for help, the police said two persons have been arrested over the incident, and the anti-kidnapping squad in Akwa Ibom state was investigating the case.

Police spokesman Odiko Macdon said an autopsy will be conducted and justice served.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to mourn her demise. Some others are sharing photos of the alleged killer, Uduak Frank Akpan, calling for justice to be served.

Popular Nigerian comedian, Mr Macaroni described Umoren's death as heartbreaking.

According to Chidi Chikere, the deceased followed all the precautions but still ended up dead.

Benita Enendu recounted how the innocent lady was lured by the criminals to take a fake job.

Emmanuel Akpan with the handle @EAEmmanuelAkpan commented:

"Iniubong Umoren's death is a very tragic one. The manner in which she died is very, very heartbreaking. Personally, I share in the devastation this sad occurrence has caused her close friends, her family , Nigerian students in University of Uyo and all those who knew her."

Aproko doctor described alleged killers as a family of monster.

@drpenking had a word of advice for the Nigeria police - stop profiling people based on their looks.

Sometime in 2020, another young Nigerian lady, Nancy Rosemary, had gone missing in Lagos state.

Her sister, Chinenye MaryJane put out a call for help on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. According to the sister, Rosemary stays in Ikeja.

She added that her location had been unknown for two weeks and her mobile lines were unreachable. MaryJane said the whole family, especially their old parents, were worried sore.

She, therefore, appealed to Nigerians to give information that could help in locating her.
