2 Officers Killed as Gunmen Attack Anambra Police Facility

- Some officers of the Nigeria Police Force have lost their lives in Anambra state

In what will continue to surprise and infuriate the country, another attack has been launched against a police station in Anambra state.

This time, the attack claimed the lives of two police officers at the Zone 13 police headquarters at Ukpo, near Awka, Premium Times reports.

Also, some vehicles parked at the station’s premises were razed during the attack.

Meanwhile, the officers who lost their lives have been identified as Ishaku Aura, an inspector, and Uzoma Uwaebuka, a police constable.

Recall that Legit.ng had earlier reported that some unknown gunmen attacked and razed down a police station in Uzoakoli, Bende local government area of Abia state.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, April 19.

Details of the attack were still sketchy but noted that the gunmen overpowered the policemen on duty and released suspects in custody.

The southeast has been experiencing targeted attacks on police stations in the past few weeks.

One of the recent targeted attacks occurred in Imo state in the early hours of Thursday, April 8.

The gunmen invaded the Mbieri police station located in the Mbaitoli local government area. and released the suspects in custody.

An indigene of Mbieri said the gunmen also took away the phones belonging to suspects and the police operatives.

In another development, the defence minister, Magashi Bashir has told troops that they should not be afraid of bullets from terrorists.

He said this when he visited the Theatre Command in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, on Sunday, April 18.

Bashir said:

“Don’t fear any bullet, the bullet will come and it will go, If you are not meant to die by a bullet you will never die but if you are meant to die by a bullet, even in your bedroom bullet will come and reach you, which is what I experienced during service.”
