The PDP chieftain said if Governor Makinde is parading characters like the transport union leader, it shows the kind of people behind him.

Fayose said:

"Governor Makinde, he looks quiet but deadly."

The PDP leader added that exhibiting thuggery is shameful for the PDP as a party. He further alleged irregularities in the election, describing the exercise as a scam.

The PDP held its zonal congress on Monday, April 12 where the candidate backed by the camp of Governor Makinde, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, emerged as the party’s new southwest zonal chairman.

Arapaja polled 343 votes to defeat Dr Eddy Olafeso, a loyalist to ex-Governor Fayose who scored 330.

However, Fayose insisted on Wednesday that his candidate won the election but said he conceded and accepted the outcome because the PDP must not lose its quest to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the southwest.

He said:

“I have conceded, I conceded not because they won. I conceded because the PDP is a bigger picture. I want to say that conceding does not amount to defeat, it is sheer exhibiting leadership."

Despite his reservations for the zonal congress, Fayose insisted that he wouldn’t be a party to those who will say the PDP will not move forward.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Fayose publicly accepted Governor Makinde as the southwest zonal leader.

He made the surprise concession at the zonal congress taking place in Osogbo, capital of Osun on Monday, April 12.

The leadership tussle between Makinde and Fayose had heated up the zone, with the PDP NWC having to shift the congress from Ibadan to Osogbo.
