Jonathan, Obasanjo join forces with 6 other former presidents to establish forum, reason revealed
- No fewer than eight former West African leaders have come together to establish a forum

Former Nigerian Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo along with six other West African leaders, on Thursday, March 4, established the West African Elders Forum.
The forum, an initiative of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF), with support from OSIWA was inaugurated to prevent and resolve election-related conflicts as well as maintain stability in the sub-region.
This was made known in a statement signed by Wealth Dickson Ominabo, the Communications Officer, GJF, and obtained by Legit.ng.

The forum has former presidents in West Africa as members. The formal inauguration which was held virtually had in attendance Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Aminata Traore among others.
Speaking at the event, Jonathan described the forum as an initiative aimed at leveraging the rich resources of eminent personalities in West Africa.
He also stressed that it would promote peace and support processes that enhance sustainable democracy.
Former president Obasanjo on his part insisted that the West African leaders need to work individually and collectively.
Accolades as Jonathan receives international award
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that six years after leaving office, Jonathan continues to enjoy global honours.
Nigeria’s former president received the African Peace and Security Leader of the Year 2020 award.
The award was organised by the African Leadership Magazine. He was honoured on Friday, February 26, at the 9th edition of the award ceremony.
In a related development, Jonathan is reportedly not happy with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former president made this known when he met the Reconciliation and Strategy Committee of the PDP.
The committee was led by a former president of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Jonathan was reported to have complained that the PDP left him in the dark, without any role assigned to him.
