Barcelona's hopes of signing their former player Neymar may have been dashed after the Brazilian hinted he is willing to extend his Paris Saint Germain's contract.

The 28-year-old became the world's most expensive player in 2017 after completing a five-year move from the Catalans to join the Parisians in a deal valued at around €222 million.

Although, he was rumoured to be unhappy in his first few seasons at the Parc Des Princes owing to their disappointments in European competitions.

However, after propelling them to their first final in the 2019-20 season, the Brazilian appears to have changed his mind to enjoy more successes in Paris.

And this means that his previous dreams of reuniting with Lionel Messi at Camp Nou after his contract expires next summer may have been pushed aside.

Meanwhile, PSG might be forced to cash in on the winger if he chooses to leave in order not to allow him to leave for free at the end of his contract.

Barca had been making efforts to re-sign the attacker since he left them four years ago but the Ligue 1 side was not happy with the offer.

The Brazil international made attempts to force a move away from the club after telling pals he was pushing for a switch.

But Barcelona's interest appears to have cooled with the club's dreadful finances laid bare due to the coronavirus pandemic. And now it appears Neymar is ready to commit to Mauricio Pochettino's project as reported by SunSport, saying:

"I am happy today. I am truly happy. Things have changed a lot. I can’t exactly explain why.
"But today, I am feeling good. I have adapted. I am calmer and I am more happy. I want to stay at PSG."

Kylian Mbappe's contract is also expiring in 2022 with Real Madrid very interested in the Frenchman but they can't afford to pay PSG's £140 million asking price.

And Neymar has also begged his fellow superstar to join him in signing a new contract. He added:

"I also want Kylian to stay. We want PSG to be a great team. I want to continue to play football and be happy, that is the most important thing.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that Former Brazilian international Caio Ribeiro has stated that fellow countryman and PSG star Neymar is the best player in the world at the moment, ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He believes Neymar has faced several criticisms throughout his career but has now risen to the top of his game.

Neymar came to limelight during his stint with local club Santos and made a blockbuster switch to Spanish club Barcelona where he stunned the world.
