Football fraternities in France have been thrown into deep mourning following the untimely death of former Bastia winger Christopher Maboulou who died after suffering heart attack.

Christopher Maboulou who played 29 games for Bastia scoring three goals in the topflight was reported to be having a kick-about before he suffered the attack.

According to the report on UK Sun, the 30-year-old was enjoying himself in a friendly game before he collapsed on the pitch before he was rushed to the hospital.

The report added that efforts to revive him in the hospital were all futile as the Frenchman was later confirmed dead.

Maboulou previously took an enforced two-year break from football when doctors diagnosed cardiac problems in 2011 and had to stay home resting.

Before his shocking death, Christopher Maboulou also featured for Chateauroux, Nancy, Evian and Greeks PAS Giannina.

The Corsican club said:

"We have sadly just learned of the tragic death of our former player Christopher Maboulou. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. May he rest in peace."

Maboulou was born in Montfermeil, France. He played 16 games for Chateauroux during the 2009–2011 seasons. He joined SC Bastia in June 2014.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are currently occupying second position on the French League 1 with 39 points after 19 games played so far.
