Nigerian female footballer Christy Ucheibe has recorded her name in the history books of football after helping her club in Portugal Benfica to win the Portuguese League Cup.

This is an incredible record for the Nigerian players as she is now the first female footballer in Nigeria to win a League Cup in Portugal.

Benfica were crowned champions in Portugal following their impressive and emphatic 3-0 win over Sporting Braga.

The Portuguese League Cup was launched two years ago and Benfica and Sporting Braga even met in the group stage in whch Christy Ucheibe and her teammates also won.

They will meet Sporting Braga again in the 2020/21 Portuguese Women's Cup final next Wednesday which will be another tough encounter.

Christy Ucheibe started her professional career at Nigerian League side Nasarawa Amazons in 2018 before moving to Assi IF in 2019 where she played 24 games scoring one goal.

Ucheibe was selected for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. In the last tournament she played three matches from the start for Nigeria.

There have also been talks for the 20-year-old to be invited to the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala on Saturday evening, December 12, continued with her superb performances for Barcelona in the League scoring hat-trick in their win over Valencia.

This is the first time this season that the former Arsenal Ladies' star will be netting three goals for Barcelona's Female team in a League match.

That takes her tally to six goals so far this season as Barcelona Female team stay top of the table even with two games they have in hands.

Oshoala scored all her goals for Barcelona in this match against Valencia in the second half which was an incredible performance.

With six goals so far for Barcelona, Asisat Oshoala has now emerged the team's joint-top scorer with Jenni Hermoso, Mariona Caldentey and Lieke Martens.
