Mikel Arteta is reportedly planning to offer Norwich City two Arsenal youngsters in a swap deal for Emiliano Buendia during the January transfer window.
The North London club is currently enjoying a resurgent form in the Premier League having won their last three games.
And these outcomes have helped them move away from the relegation zone with 23 points from 17 league games so far this campaign.
However, the Gunners are still looking for a creative midfielder following their decision to freeze Mesut Ozil out of their squad this campaign.
The German midfielder was not registered for both the EPL and the Europa League at the start of the season and it is left to be seen if that will change this mid-term.
Arteta is now willing to send both Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson to Norwich in exchange for the 24-year-old Argentine midfielder.
Metro UK quoting The Independent reports that Buendia showed the quality he was made of in the Premier League last season and has continued his strong form for Norwich in the Championship with seven goals and seven assists in 19 appearances so far this term.
The Emirates Stadium outfit has held initial discussions with Buendia’s agent about the possibility of a deal this month.
And the report claims that Arsenal will give Norwich two players in order to lower their £40 million asking price.
The North Londoners are also looking to trim their squad in the January window, therefore a player-plus-cash deal for the Argentine midfielder would be in order.
Arteta's men got the New Year off to an impressive start following their 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on January 2 while their next EPL outing will be against Crystal Palace.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has disclosed that he will finally decide whether to bring in Mesut Ozil to the Premier League squad or not, as soon as the January transfer window ends.
The German midfielder was dropped out of the team’s squads for the Premier League as well as the Europa League.
And following a poor run of matches in the English top-flight, there are calls for the ‘assist-master’ to be recalled into the squad when they have the chance to do so.
