Omah Lay and Tems: Davido, Burna Boy, others react to singers' arrest in Uganda

- Davido has condemned the arrest of Omah Lay and Tems in Uganda as he sought ways to help secure their release

- Recall the duo was arrested for breaking COVID-19 restrictions in the country

Several Nigerian artists have taken to social media to react to the arrest of Stanley Omah Didia aka Omah Lay and Temilade Openiyi professionally known as Tems, in Uganda shortly after a concert.

The news of their arrest was made public by an assistant superintendent of police in the country identified as Owoyesigyire (@lukowoyesigyire) on social media, on Sunday, December 13.

Davido in a recent tweet condemned the arrest adding that they didn't bargain for this. He also asked about how to help their situation.

"Omo this Ugandan P, how can we help? What can we do? Artists just tryna eat! They didn’t bargain for this @PoliceUg !!!!! BIG CAP!!"

Burna Boy called out the Uganda Police as he pointed out that the show was organised by Ugandans and tickets were sold publicly.

According to the self-proclaimed African Giant, the artists shouldn't have to suffer for it.

"They should not be treated like this! @PoliceUg ?! they were invited for a show organised by your citizens, granted visas, tickets were sold publicly on the WORLD WIDE WEB! this anarchy should not be targeted at the artists! #freetems #FreeOmahLay"

For Tiwa Savage, the arrest of Omah Lay and Tems is unfair.

Patoranking in his recent tweet tagged the arrest as senseless.

Wizkid simply wants the two artists brought home safely.

Recall Omah Lay confirmed reports that he was nabbed by police officers in Uganda on his social media page.

The singer in a post shared on his verified Twitter page noted that he is in police custody and it had something to do with a concert which he performed at the previous night.

It appeared the situation took a turn for the worse following another new set of tweets shared by the singer on his social media page.

On his official page on Twitter, he disclosed that both him and female singer Tems had been placed in handcuffs.

Omah noted that he is just a singer trying to entertain people in Uganda and wondered why he is being set up.
