EndSARS: Nigerians in London condemn violence by hoodlums during protests

- Some Nigerians in London have called for peace following the outcome of the #EndSARS protest across Nigeria

- The Nigerians made this call during a #March4Nigeria rally in London on Thursday, October 22

- According to them, there is a need to give the government an opportunity to work towards meeting the demands of the youths

Some Nigerians in the United Kingdom, on Thursday, October 22, held a peaceful rally to condemn the growing violence surrounding the #EndSARS protests across Nigeria.

The Nigerians in their hundreds staged a procession at the Nigerian House in London to call on their compatriots to give peace a chance. 

They also called on Nigerians back home to embrace the #March4Nigeria rally presently ongoing across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as well as other parts of the world.

In a statement signed by the group's coordinating chairman, Philip Amraevughe and member, Alvine Emechetta, the group said the current situation in Nigeria is a cause for concern.

Admitting that while it is the right of the youths to demand an end to police brutality, the group noted said this should not be at the detriment of the country's peace, stability and progress.

According to the group, the #EndSARS protests have been hijacked by hoodlums, hence the need to #March4Nigeria to send a strong message to these political thugs and their sponsors. 

The group said that there is no other place to call home and as such should not allow ourselves to be used as agents of destruction.

They said:

We must quickly realize that the once peaceful protests have been hijacked by agents of those that are against the interest of Nigeria. By those that are hell-bent on seeing to the disintegration of our great country.

They also reminded citizens that Nigeria's unity is sacrosanct, and the objective of the #March4Nigeria is in total agreement with this statement of the fact.

Further warning individuals and groups sponsoring acts of violence in Nigeria to desist from such enterprise, the group said there is a need to allow the government the time to implement the long-lasting reforms

They assured that the country will achieve its goals under President Muhammadu Buhari. 

"As we #March4Nigeria, we #March4Peace, we #March4Progress and we #March4 unity, and this much we must achieve God helping us. I thank you all for your perseverance so far and together we can make Nigeria great again. 

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had suspended the #EndSARS protest which had been going on across the country.

Addressing the nation on Thursday, October 22, the president warned those who have hijacked the protest to stay off the streets.

In another news, the governor of Osun state and his deputy were reportedly attacked by some hoodlums in the state.
