Jose Mourinho was one of the first people to call Iker Casillas after hearing about his heart attack despite no meeting eye to eye.
The Real Madrid legend suffered from cardiac arrest while in training with his Portuguese side FC Porto before being rushed to the hospital.
And after making full recovery the most decorated goalkeeper in history retired from the game earlier in 2020.
Mourinho dropped Casillas from his first-team squad during his spell with Los Blancos but that did not stop the Portuguese gaffer from getting in touch with him.
Casillas told ESPN:
"A lot of people don't know it but Jose Mourinho was one of the first people to call about me, to call me to find out how I was.
"I saw people I had not seen for a long time, it makes you appreciate the little things in life. You live more from day to day, you stop just being in your own little world.
"I was very lucky, other people don't have that.
"I felt that I was definitely going to die that day, and the circumstances forced me to reconsider everything. I'm a privileged person. If I can continue to play football, I will do that."
Casillas recently wanted to contest for the position of Spanish FA president but later stepped down for current leader Luis Rubiales who was elected until 2024.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Jose Mourinho has blasted those who branded him a defensive manager after Tottenham Hotspur demolished Manchester 6-1 at Old Trafford.
The victory saw Harry Kane and Heung-min Son score brace while Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele also scored a goal each in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes' second-minute spot-kick ended up a mere consolation despite scoring first in the game.
Legit.ng also reported that Tottenham have announced the signing of Brazilian striker Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica as Jose Mourinho decided to bolster his squad.
Harry Kane has for years being the lone striker Tottenham have been using upfront and Jose Mourinho signed Carlos Vinicius as a cover-up for the England international.
Last season, Carlos Vinicius was superb for Benfica scoring 24 goals in all competitions and was linked with many clubs in Europe.
