The move by the Ondo House of Assembly to suspend one of its lawmakers, Success Torhukerhijo, was halted by a high court in the state on Tuesday, August 11.
The order of the court barring the suspension of Torhukerhijo who represents Ese-Odo constituency by the speaker of the House, Hon Bamidele Oleyeloogun, was read by Justice Ademola Bola, The Nation reports.

This means that the lawmaker is henceforth allowed to continue with his constitutional obligations until the determination of the motion on notice.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that following reports of misconduct, the Ondo state House of Assembly had suspended a lawmaker, Tomide Akinribido, representing Ondo West constituency 1.
Akinribido's suspension came about a month after three lawmakers were suspended by the House. Reports had it that the lawmaker, a member of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), was suspended for making use of improper language during plenary.
Akinribido gave his opinion as to why the state House of Assembly took the decision against him. Akinribido, speaking with journalists, said that he was suspended because he refused to support moves to impeach the state's deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi.
Denying that he used vulgar language on the speaker of the House during plenary, the suspended lawmaker said that his suspension was politically motivated, adding that it is mere witch-hunting.
