Karim Benzema has been voted the best player of the just concluded La Liga season according to fans as the Frenchman scored 21 goals to help Real Madrid win their first title in three years.

And the Frenchman picked up 37% of the vote compared to Messi’s 31% despite that the Argentine the season with the Pichichi trophy after his 25 goals, while he also registered 21 assists.

Those 21 assists broke a La Liga record which had previously been set by former teammate Xavi.

Messi might have missed the chance to win the La Liga title for the third consecutive time this season, but he didn't miss the opportunity to break yet another record.
