Presidency says faceless people are spreading false reports about Osinbajo

The Nigerian presidency has accused faceless persons of spreading false reports about his Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo through some unknown bloggers.

Laolu Akande, the senior special assistant on media and publicity to vice-president made the accusation on Monday, July 13, during an Instagram live session with Dele Momodu of Ovation Magazine.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng, Akande said the fake reports were aimed at distracting the vice-president from focusing on his job

He, however, stated that Osinbajo remains focussed on delivering on his job despite facing campaign of calumny by these faceless persons.

“The goal is to distract him but the vice-president will not be distracted. He will continue to remain focus and to do his job.

"He has said to me several times that this is not a monarchy and he just wants to do his job so that history will remember him when he leaves the office,” he said during the interview.

Akande pointed out that President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo take the mandate Nigerians have given them very seriously and are determined to get the work done.

He also disclosed that work is in top gear to deliver the implementation of the economic sustainability plan.

Legit.ng recalls that there have been unverified reports allegedly claiming that the vice-president collected sums of from Ibrahim Magu.

But Osinbajo has denied the reports and even asked the police to investigate what he described as false reports against him.

Meanwhile, a group under the aegis of Good News Nigeria has urged Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to contest for president in 2023.

The group in a statement on Friday, July 3, said a joint ticket of Yemi Osinbajo and Borno governor, Babagana Zulum as president and vice president respectively in 2023 would lead to national development, Leadership reported.

The advocacy group said an Osinbanjo/Zulum ticket would have immense benefits for the development of Nigeria in 2023.
