Motherhood is a very beautiful thing but it definitely comes with its own set of challenges and is very painful when one loses the child and all the pain and stress turns out to be for nothing.

It is no longer news that popular on-air-personality, Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru-Demuren, lost her first child and that it was a very tough time for her. The media girl has now recounted the painful story of how it happened.

During a Life Lessons interview with Betty Irabor, Toolz revealed that when her pregnancy was approaching six months, she noticed that she had never felt any movement from the child in her belly and this led to her seeking medical attention.

The 38-year-old later travelled to the UK because the Nigerian hospitals “missed a few things and didn’t pick up on the problem” during its early stages.

A scan was done and it was revealed that the child Toolz was carrying was too small and may not survive. The media personality was eventually told that the child in her belly was no longer alive and needed to be removed.

Narrating further, Toolz said that she was given medication to make her go into labour in three days but that it eventually happened a day earlier than projected.

She said: “I was in so much pain and that’s when I realized that gosh, I’m in labour. I was in labour for hours.

“It was very very traumatic. I try not to think about it too much.

“This was in the UK, they had to do like an autopsy, I had to arrange a funeral. It was horrible.

“That whole time, I was just like, ‘Yeah, God, I’m done’. I’m like ‘come and take me, I’m gone’.”

Thankfully, Toolz and her husband later welcomed a handsome baby boy.
