Popular Nigerian actress Halima Abubakar, who recently became a mother, is now receiving backlash on social media for her action when she announced the birth of her child.

Recall that the actress announced her baby's arrival with a photo she shared on Instagram. In the photo, a baby's hand could be seen holding someone's thumb and people assumed that the baby in the photo was the actress' newborn.

It was later discovered that the baby in the photo was another woman's child, an American who announced her baby's arrival on Friday, March 13.

Nigerians have now reacted to the story on the popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter. They noted that what she did was uncalled for.

Some Nigerians said they are disappointed her behaviour while others stated that they were not surprised, noting that it reminded them of what another actress, Oge Okoye, did with the photo of a dog she claimed she got.
