Robert Lewandowski, wife donate €1m to help fight deadly COVID-19

- Robert Lewandowski and his wife Anna are the latest sports celebrities to have donated money help combat Coronavirus

- The couples gave a whopping €1million to help fight the pandemic which has become a global issue

- Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich has also donated €1million combined as well as Man City star Leroy Sane

Robert Lewandowski and his wife Anna have contributed €1million (£923,900) to help fight the deadly COVID-19, cited on BBC and BR Football.

Lewandoski's Bayern Munich teammates Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich have also set up a fund called We Kick Corona to help eradicate the pandemic which has taken thousands of lives around the world.

Goretzka and Kimmich have also contributed €1million between them as their international teammate and Man City attacker Leroy Sane has also made his own donation.

"We are all aware of the difficult situation," the Lewandowski's told Bild.

"Today we all play in a team. Let us be strong in this fight. If we can help someone, let's do it.

"This situation affects every one of us, so we ask you to follow the instructions and listen to those who know best. Be responsible."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lorenzo Sanz, former Real Madrid president has passed on at the age of 76 after losing battle to deadly Coronavirus, cited on Mirror and BBC.

The former Los Blancos chief was taken to the hospital earlier in the week after falling ill and his family confirmed Sanz contracted COVID-19.

Sanz won two Champions League titles when he was president of Real Madrid for five years from 1995-200 and signed stars like Pedrac Mijatovic and Davor Suker.

Legit.ng also reported that Paolo Maldini and son Daniel have tested positive to the deadly Coronavirus, according to club AC Milan, cited on Twitter.

He wrote on his Instagram handle: "Hi everyone, I just wanted to inform you that we have received the results for the Covid-19 test and both Oriana and I have tested positive.
