The national chairman of the Al progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, have berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for declaration Emeka Ihedioha the initial winner of the Imo governorship election.

Oshiomhole, who spoke in a press conference on Friday, January 17, in Abuja said that Ihedioha, as stipulated by the Nigerian constitution of 1999, failed to score two-thirds of the votes in the state to deserve the position of the winner of the poll, Nigerian Tribune reports.

The APC boss said that it was therefore fraudulent and reckless of the electoral commision to have declared the former governor the winner of the election.

Oshiomhole alleged that the People Democractic Party (PDP) is known to be rigging election right from inception.

He claimed that the opposition party did the same with the returning officer who announced Ihedioha as the winner.

Oshiomhole said: ”In the case of Emeka Ihedioha and I invite you to ask INEC to make available to you the results. It shows clearly that even at the time Ihedioha was declared the governor, he did not score two-third in the local government areas.

"That was exactly what they did in the case of Imo and I think that was the height of irresponsibility on the part of INEC."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Ihedioha who was on Tuesday, January 14, sacked as the governor of Imo state had accused the Supreme Court of subverting the will of the people of the state.
