Mesut Ozil was substituted on the hour mark by Freddie Ljunberg after his lackluster performance in Arsenal's 3-0 loss to Manchester City.

The former Germany international looked disappointed as he strolled off the pitch for Emile Smith-Rowe.

The 31-year-old took off his gloves and kicked it into air to show his frustrations as Per Mertesacker tried to comfort the midfielder.

A similar incident occurred to Granit Xhaka during the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in October.

The Swiss international made angry gestures at the fans and walked straight into the dressing. But he was disciplined by former boss Unai Emery as the midfielder was left out in a couple of games.

City got off an running in the second minute as Kevin De Bruyne smashed home a cross from Gabriel Jesus to make it 1-0.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Mesut Ozil has criticized Muslims for keeping quiet about how they are being persecuted in China but Arsenal have come out to distance themselves from his statement.

Ozil took to his Instagram account to vent his anger about ill-treatment of the Uighurs, a Turkic-speaking Muslim minority, in the north-western region of Xinjiang.
