British-Ghanaian singer Stormzy credited for inspiring black British students study at Cambridge
- British-Ghanaian Grime star, Stormzy, has been credited with helping a number of black British students study at Cambridge University
- According to reports, an additional 50 percent black British students were admitted as undergraduates into Cambridge
- This was made possible by Stormzy who set up a scholarship fund to see to elite status education for black British students
Many are applauding British-Ghanaian Grime star, Stormzy, for his support in providing black British students opportunity to study at ivy league school, Cambridge University.
It was gathered that the Stormzy Scholarship fund which provides financial aid for two black British students admitted to the university resulted in the school admitting 61 black British students, a 50 percent addition to what they have had previously.
According to the university's vice-chancellor, Professor Stephen Toope, 61 new black students arrived to take up courses at Cambridge and it was the largest number ever but not nearly as many as much as they like.
Toope appreciated Stormzy for his dedication to bettering lives of black British students. He said: "Stormzy is an inspiration, not just for his music but for his engagement on social issues and encouragement of young people."
Meanwhile, Stormzy achieved another feat after being featured on the cover of Time's magazine, New Generation Leaders issue.
The rapper who was the first black British solo artist to headline a festival at Glastonbury in February, is on his way to making history with his music.
In an interview with Time, the 26-year-old rapper opened up about his decision to quit his job and do music full time. Which he stated was a good decision as his kind of music known as Grime is making waves in the UK at the moment.
