Arsenal vs Standard Liege Europa League clash saw Gunners thrash Les Rouches 4-0 in a Group F on Thursday night, October 3, at Emirates Stadium

The encounter saw Hector Bellerin, Reiss Nelson and Kieran Tierney make the starting XI for the Gunners, while Emiliano Martinez replaced Bernd Leno in goal.

Arsenal netted the opener after 12 minutes after Gabriel Martinelli nodded Tierney’s cross from the left.

Martinelli completed his brace two minutes later with a curling effort from inside the penalty box.

The Belgians were still struggling to clear their lines, allowing Joe Willock to capitalise on a poor defensive clearance to fire home Arsenal’s third goal in the 22nd minute, to see the Unai Emery’s side enjoy a 3-0 lead.

However, the Belgians managed to force a late save from Martinez before the referee’s whistle, to see Arsenal go into the break with a three-goal advantage.

After the restart, Arsenal appeared not too worried going for more goals, but 12 minutes later Dani Ceballos poked home an assist from Martinelli for the home side’s fourth from close range.

Arsenal brought on Nicolas Pepe for Ainsley Maitland-Niles six minutes after the hour mark, with the Gunners firmly dictating the pace of the game, with a 4-0 lead.

Pepe and Ceballos had later chances to net, with the visitors pushing for a consolation goal, but at the blast of the final whistle Arsenal held on to claim back-to-back clean sheet to remain top of Group F with 6 points.

In the group's other game, Vitoria de Guimaraes suffered a 0 - 1 home defeat to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, to see the German claim the second spot with 3 points courtesy of superior goals.

Legit.ng reported earlier that Arsenal are reportedly interested in the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard who currently plays for Real Sociedad on loan.

According to the report on UK Sun, Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants Martin Odegaard to replace German football star Mesut Ozil.
