Joe Aribo, Super Eagles and Rangers midfielder, could be a major doubt for Brazil friendly and his club’s next "few games" after cropping a head injury in Wednesday's League Cup win over Livingston.

According to the BBC report, the Super Eagles youngster, who marked his debut against Ukraine early in the month needed about 20 stitches after a rough challenge by Livingston's Rickie Lamie.

Speaking moments after the game club boss Steven Gerrard admitted that Aribo will sit out Saturday's home fixture against Aberdeen after being "cut all the way to the bone".

"I will be very surprised if we see Aribo play before the international break," the Rangers boss said.

"It is his first time out of London and he has settled very well. This will be a setback but knowing him he will bounce back, he didn't even want to come off yesterday which shows his mentality."

Ahead of the next international break, Rangers will still battle Young Boys away in the Europa League on Thursday, October 3 and Hamilton at Ibrox.

Aribo was injured minutes before the end of the first half break in the 1-0 win at the Tony Macaroni Arena after Lamie's forearm hit the Eagles midfielder on the head.

Responding to a question on whether the Livingston defender should have been sent off during the match, Gerrard repeated his thoughts on Thursday, September 26.
