TICAD7: Buhari attends opening ceremony in Japan

- The 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Yokohama, Japan, has been declared open by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan

- The ceremony was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and other world leaders like UN's Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

- President Buhari will deliver a speech which will contain a review of the relationship between Nigeria and Japan

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, August 28, alongside world leaders attended the opening ceremony of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Yokohama, Japan.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan declared the conference open, describing the TICAD as one that has faith in the African continent.

Abe said that based on its belief in Africa, Japan has been of help to the continent in terms of clearing of land mines, health care, water supply, capacity building and infrastructure.

Al Fatah Elsisi of Egypt United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Africa Union (AU)'s chairperson, Musa Faki Mohammed among others are to deliver speeches at the conference.

President Buhari is to deliver a speech which should contain a review of the relationship between Nigeria and Japan.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari on Monday, August 26, arrived at Haneda Airport, Yokohama, in Japan ahead of the seventh Tokyo international conference on African Development.

President Buhari departed Abuja on Sunday, August 25, for Japan to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) that would be held in Yokohama from August 28 to August 30.
