Sokoto lawmaker Aminu Magaji Bodai reportedly abducted by hoodlums

- Suspected hoodlums have abducted a lawmaker from Sokoto, Aminu Magaji Bodai

- The kidnap was confirmed by the state police which said a manhunt has been launched

- A relative of the victim said he was on his way to his village when he was abducted

Aminu Magaji Bodai who is a member of the Sokoto House of Assembly has reportedly been abducted by hoodlums.

According to TVC, the lawmaker was abducted on the morning of Thursday, August 22.

A close relative of the lawmaker representing Denge/Shuni state constituency confirmed the abduction, saying it happened on his way to his village in Bodai from Dange town.

ASP Muhammad Sadiq Abubakar who is the spokesperson of the Sokoto state police command confirmed the abduction.

According to Daily Trust, he said 10 persons suspected to be kidnappers abducted the lawmaker.

He said: “At about 1:30 hours in the early hours of today, we received an information at Denge Shuni Division that armed persons numbering about 10, suspected to be kidnappers, went to Bodai village of Denge Shuni local government and kidnapped member representing Denge Shuni constituency at the state House of Assembly, one Honourable Aminu Magaji Bodai.”

He said additional manpower has been dispatched to the scene so as to launch a manhunt in the bush in a bid to rescue the lawmaker.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Nigeria Police Force disclosed that kidnap kingpin Wadume was finally re-arrested by its operatives.

The disclosure was made on Tuesday, August 20, by the police spokesperson Frank Mba, who said Wadume was re-arrested in his hideout at Layin Mai Allo Hotoro area of Kano state in the late hours of Monday, August 19.
