Zamfara governor, Matawallen-Maradun, dedicates half of his salary to orphans

- The governor also assured that his administration would improve the standard living of orphanage homes across the state

The newly-sworn in Zamfara state governor, Hon. Dr Muhammad Bello Matawallen-Maradun has dedicated half of his monthly salary to orphans welfare in the state.

Matawallen Maradun announced this on Thursday, May 30 when he visited the state's orphanage home in Gusau, the state capital.

He said orphans are among the important personalities in the society, therefore they need to be given effective care and concern.

His words: “I am happy to visit this orphanage home today, as from today I adopt all the 70 orphans in this home as my personal children.

“I will dedicate half of my monthly salary for their feeding, clothing and other human needs apart from the government support to them.”

The governor also assured that his administration would improve the standard living of orphanage homes and other social houses across the state in order to uplift the living standards of orphans in the state.

He advised the orphans not to feel discourage but to wake up and concentrate with their studies in schools for their future development.

He then urged them to embark on special prayers for the state to overcome the dwindling security challenges facing the state.

“I want you to support me and this government with prayers in order to succeed with the task ahead,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Sokoto zonal office, on Tuesday, May 28, arrested one suspected politician with N60 million naira cash, following intelligence report of his suspicious money laundering activities.

The suspect Murtala Muhammad who is alleged to be a brother to the immediate pas secretary to the Zamfara state government, Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi, was arrested at No.145 Igala Housing Estate, Off Byepass road, Gusau by the operatives of the EFCC.

Items recovered from him at the point of arrest include: one Black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Jeep with registration number DKA 67 PX Kaduna loaded with 4 bags of Ghana Must go containing One thousand Naira note of N15 million naira each, totalling to N60 million naira.
