AIG orders arrest, detention of 4 officers over alleged torture-to-death of 20-year-old
- The AIG of Zone 2, Lawal Shehu, has ordered the arrest and detention of four policemen, over the torture-to-death of a 20-year-old man, Jubril Mohammed
- Mohammed, who hails from Borno state, was allegedly beaten to death by detectives over suspected theft, a few days after arriving at the station
- The AIG also wants anyone with useful information that can aid in the investigation into the matter to reach out to the police command
Four policemen have been arrested and detained on the orders of the assistant inspector-general of police, Zone 2, Lawal Shehu, over the death of a 20-year-old guard, Jubril Mohammed.
According to Punch, the officers would remain in detention pending the outcome of investigations into the alleged torture-to-death of the deceased.

Legit.ng previously reported that Jubril Mohammed was allegedly tortured to death by operatives of the Zonal Inspection Squad, Obada, Abeokuta, Ogun state. The deceased was said to be among some suspects transferred from the Ibafo Police Station in a case of suspected stealing of company products.
Mohammed, who hails from Borno state, was allegedly beaten to death by detectives investigating the theft, a few days after arriving at the station.
The zonal police public relations officer, CSP Dolapo Badmos, had initially said Mohammed had ulcer before he died. However, the claim was rejected by his father.
Badmos, on Sunday, December 30, however, disclosed that the AIG had ordered the detention of members of the police team in charge of the case.
She said: “The AIG has ordered the detention of the four policemen involved in the case. The Zonal Criminal Investigation Department has been detailed to investigate the matter extensively.
"The AIG wants anyone with useful information that can aid our investigation into the matter to reach out to the command.
“The CID has ordered a post-mortem on the corpse to ascertain the actual cause of death. We are assuring members of the public that justice will be served. If there is any officer found culpable, in our usual style, we will not cover up.”

Meanwhile, in a similar development, a young lady took to her Twitter handle to accuse operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of killing a young man in Kaduna.
The lady who was identified as @winnie_wesley on social media, disclosed that some SARS officials tortured a 300 level student of Kaduna State University (KASU) to death over stolen N10,000.
