A policeman has been killed in renewed Shiites protests over the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim Elzakzaky.
Channels reports that the spokesman for the Kaduna state police command, Mukhtar Aliyu, confirmed the incident which took place on Thursday, June 21.
Legit.ng gathered that Aliyu said that the policeman was walking along the road when the Shiite members stabbed him with knives and stones until he gave up the ghost on the spot.
The incident comes shortly after Ibrahim El-zakzaky and his wife, appeared before the Kaduna state High Court on the same day.
They were arraigned by the state government on eight counts bordering on alleged culpable hom.icide, unlawful assembly, disturbance of public peace among other allegations.
The Shi’ites, in their numbers, had taken to the streets earlier in the day, with placards bearing different inscriptions demanding the release of their leader.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that men of the Kaduna state police command, on Wednesday, June 20, engaged members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites in a gun duel, in Kaduna, over the continuous detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
According to the report, the Shiites, in their numbers, during a protest, took over the popular Ahmadu Bello Way, the commercial nerve centre of Kaduna state, carrying placards with varying inscriptions demanding the release of their leader.
