12 armed bandits neutralized by Nigerian Army in Kaduna

- Troops attached to 1 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army killed 12 bandits in Kaduna state

- The troops deployed at Dogon Dawa conducted covert operation at Kidandan village, Maidaro and Sabon Fili villages

- Items recovered during the operation include 32 motorcycles., 5 handsets and N9,135

Twelve bandits have been killed in Kidandan, Maidaro and Sabon Fili villages in the Dogon Dawa area of Kaduna state during an exchange of fire between some gunmen and troops attached to 1 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army deployed on Operation Idon Raini.

Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, the director army public relations, who confirmed the incident, in a statement said the troops conducted a covert operation were bandits patronize the village markets for purchase of resupplies and other needful.

In continuation of Operation IDON RAINI by 1 Division Garrison Nigerian Army Kaduna, troops deployed at Dogon Dawa conducted covert operation at Kidandan village, Maidaro and Sabon Fili villages were bandits patronize the village markets for purchase of resupplies and other needful.

Following a tip off, troops and vigilante groups infiltrated the market on Thursday 7 June 2018 on Clandestine operation to identify the Bandits.

During the process, few hours later on appearance of other uniformed troops to arrest the identified bandits. Serious fire-fight ensued between own troops and the fleeing bandits.

In the process, due to superior fire power of own troops, 12 of the fleeing bandits were neutralised and the following items were recovered:

a. 32 Motorcycles

b. 5 Handsets

c. Nine Thousand One Hundred and Thirty Five Naira (#9,135)

The general public is advised to continue to provide credible and timely information to the security agents."

Legit.ng previously reported that troops deployed in Exercise Ayem Akpatuma while on patrol along Dogon Dawa-Damari road in Kaduna state have killed two suspected criminals.

The troops also recovered two AK 47 rifles, three magazines and 88 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a statement by Nigerian Army spokesman, Brigadier-General Texas Chukwu, revealed.

Also, troops deployed along Rigasa-Airport road also in Kaduna state on Sunday, April 2, ran into an ambush by suspected bandits. Two soldiers were wounded in the encounter and are presently receiving treatment.
