Bridge between street football and start of great career

The 1xCup isn’t just a football tournament, but a whole ecosystem that helps young players from local teams get a chance to build a professional career. Thanks to close cooperation with scouts from European and African clubs, the organisers have succeeded in creating an effective talent factory.

Over 30 players from previous 1xCup seasons have signed professional contracts with teams in Nigeria, Bulgaria, Norway, Albania, and many other countries.

Take the case of Okere Ebube, who won a bronze medal in the third season of the tournament and impressed scouts with his athleticism, discipline, and dedication. The talented central midfielder signed a contract with Tikvesh in North Macedonia and, after moving to Europe, managed to succeed at the professional level. In his first season, he played 10 matches and scored 1 goal – excellent statistics for a Nigerian player.

Why football club scouts follow 1xCup so closely

3 seasons of the grassroots tournament are now behind us, having demonstrated a high standard of organisation and maximum outreach. Scouts know that this is where Lagos’s most promising players compete, and they are provided with the best possible conditions to focus on football.

But the 1xCup 2026 will take things to a whole new level. For the first time, the tournament will feature teams from all 5 administrative divisions of Lagos. Over 100 amateur clubs will compete for a prize pool of ₦20,000,000 (20 million naira) and their dream of making it into professional football.

In the fourth season of the tournament, the intrigue will reach its peak – the organisers have confirmed that there will be no draws in the qualification. In every match, the teams will fight for victory, giving their all.

Following the qualifiers, the 24 best teams will be divided into 6 groups, which will compete for 16 spots in the knockout stage. From the knockout stage onwards, scouts from professional clubs will attend the tournament matches to watch our state’s most talented players in action.

The tournament has a clear structure, a high level of organisation, and maximum outreach. That’s why the 1xCup 2026 is one of the key events of the sporting season for Lagos and the whole of Nigeria.

Take a step towards your dream

The 1xCup 2026 will kick off very soon, and now is the perfect time to apply to take part in the competition. To do so, you must form a team of 25 players and 3 official representatives. All of them must provide their NIN or an international passport. Only amateur teams that do not compete in professional leagues are eligible to apply.

Join the chase for your dream, and maybe you’ll become the biggest star of the 1xCup 2026!
