Riccardo Calafiori's first-half goal from a corner kick in the 13th minute was enough for Arsenal to secure all three points after a defensive masterclass.

Fernandes points at United’s mistake

United captain Bruno Fernandes admitted that his team did everything right except score during their loss to Arsenal at Old Trafford.

“We created some chances but we didn't score, so that is the main negative of the day,” he said as quoted by Daily Star.
“We have a big hope for what we want to do and what we want to achieve. There are positive things to look at, like scoring goals.”

The Portuguese magnifico applauded the Old Trafford fans for standing by the team throughout the match and after, despite the unfavourable result.

“I really liked the reaction of the fans at the end. I really appreciate what they did. That was more a sign of hope than what we did during the game.”

The fans endured a difficult time last season, but are renewed for this season as they hope that today's performance can be consistent and offer a bright time this season.

Fernandes questions Arsenal’s goal

The captain was displeased with the manner in which his team conceded from a set piece, believing it was a situation that should have been addressed differently by the referee.

Altay Bayindir, who started ahead of Andre Onana, got a touch of the ball during a box 18 tussle, but Italian defender Calafiori pounced to score.

“Altay was saying that in the moment he goes to push the ball, he gets a touch,” he said as quoted by Mirror UK. “But we know in the Premier League, they don’t give much in these types of situations.
“Even if they had a meeting with us saying that if the players are blocking and not looking at the ball, they will whistle more.”

United manager Ruben Amorim agrees with his captain, claiming the goal should have been disallowed for a foul on the Turkish goalkeeper.
