Galatasaray began the defence of their Turkish Super League title with a 3-0 win over Gaziantep at the Gaziantep Metropolitan Stadium.

Buruk discloses conversation with Osimhen
Victor Osimhen trained with his teammates but was left out of the travelling squad to Gaziantep, a decision that did not come as a surprise to the fans.
Head coach Okan Buruk has explained his decision and also disclosed the conversation he had with the Super Eagles forward before dropping him from the team.
“Osimhen had a five- or six-day training period,” Buruk said as per CNN Turk.
“Playing here during that period could have been risky for him. I spoke to him about this. He said he was thinking of resting up for this match and at least getting some playing time for the next one.”
Buruk admitted his team's struggles in the first half against Gaziantep, despite scoring three goals and added that it was because of the missing players.
“The start of the match is a bit more challenging. Some players actually struggled,” he said as quoted by galatasaray.org.
“Of course, this is the first match. There are players who are missing a match. All our players will be ready over time. There were players who weren't with us here. We'll gradually prepare them and try to get them on the field after next week.”

Osimhen also sat out the final pre-season match: the 2-2 draw against Italian Serie A side SS Lazio at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex in Istanbul.
He will certainly be in action when Galatasaray hosts Fatih Karagumruk at Rams Park on August 15. He is likely to come off the bench to earn minutes.
The Super Eagles forward surprisingly missed the first match against Gaziantep last season, after he was deemed ineligible as he was not registered when the match was postponed.
He completed the 90 minutes in the return leg last season, which Galatasaray won 1-0 thanks to Ahmed Kutucu’s lone goal.
