Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte will renew their rivalry from next season following the appointment of the Portuguese as the new boss of Roma.
The 58-year-old was handed a three-year deal by the Italian League giants to become the Giallorossi's new handler until the summer of 2024.
This will however pitch both former Premier League managers against each other with many expecting fireworks in Serie A with the arrival of the 'Special One'.
Conte who recently guided Inter Milan to their first Scudetto after 11 years has joined others to welcome the two-time Champions League winner back to Italy.
The Italian-born manager also wished his colleague success against every other team but the reigning Serie A champions according to The Mirror.
“It’s great news for everybody, I wish him the best, except when he plays against Inter.”
And when he was asked if there will be a hug next time they meet, Conte responded
“For sure, there is great respect between us.”
The publication recalls that the two managers never saw eye-to-eye during their reigns at Chelsea and Manchester United as they mostly aimed insults at each other whenever they had the chance.
Their rivalry dates back to 2009 when Atalanta under Conte denied Mourinho's Inter maximum points in their treble-winning season following their 1-1 draw in Bergamo.
But, their relationship became sour in 2016 as Mourinho felt humiliated by Conte's celebration after Chelsea were four goals up in their first meeting in England.
The Italian manager also got the better of his colleague in the FA Cup final and they both were insulting to each other until they were axed by their respective clubs.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Roma have confirmed an agreement has been reached with Jose Mourinho for him to become their new head coach ahead of the 2021-22 season.
This is coming barely two weeks after the Portuguese manager was fired by English Premier League club Tottenham.
He led Spurs to win just one of their last six matches across all competitions in charge, suffering an early exit from the Europa League and slipping five points behind West Ham United in the top-four race in the process.
