"I didn't do that video as an appointee of the government and I didn't do that video by the instruction of the governor of Edo State or by the permission of the governor of Edo State. I did that video in my personal capacity as a son of the governor who was offended by the video statement that the governor's children should be ashamed of their father," he said.

Chukwu Apologises to Governor and Edo Indigenes

Chukwu directed his first apology at Okpebholo, expressing concern that his comments may have embarrassed the governor publicly.

"I want to apologise to his Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for whatever embarrassment my comment may have caused him. Our governor is a peace-loving governor who does not tolerate violence or threat or oppression," he said.

He also addressed Edo people broadly, saying his remarks did not represent the views of the state's residents.

"My comment, in my personal opinion, did not reflect the opinion of all Edo people in any way. Edo people are loving people and they are accommodating people. I want to apologise to every son and daughter of Edo who have seen my video as disrespectful and not accepted. I want to say I'm really sorry," he said.
