Bauchi, Bauchi state - Deborah Bonat, a former leader of ECWA Women Fellowship International, tragically lost her life in a motor accident at the age of 68.

The crash involved a team returning from an EMS Saturation Outreach mission.

According to a report by This Day, a statement signed by Danjuma Dickson Auta, ECWA’s public relations officer (PRO), revealed that a bus carrying 14 participants from Zonzon DCC in Kaduna State was involved in the accident near Lariski in Bauchi State while returning from Taraba State.

ECWA leaders die in road accident

Three victims, including Bonat, were confirmed dead, while six others are receiving treatment in a Gombe hospital, and five have been discharged in stable condition. Besides Bonat, the deceased include Reverend Habila Tagwai Kajan, former Zonzon DCC secretary, and Lydia John, as reported by the Nigerian Tribune.

Bonat occasionally posted on Facebook, often sharing reflections on worship and God. Her final post, made on Monday, January 12, 2026, focused on the theme of devotion to God.

Posting a photo, she wrote on Facebook:

"Beloved, 'A life of service is the highest form of worship.'
"Everything we do is service to God.
"How are you serving?
"May He find us faithful on the last day. Amen."

Family members killed in Lagos crash

Legit.ng earlier reported that a speeding truck triggered a multi-vehicle collision that killed three members of the same family on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
