Breaking: Inspector-General of Police Appoints Hundeyin as New Force Spokesperson

  • Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police (IGP), appointed Benjamin Hundeyin as the force public relations officer (FPRO)

FCT, Abuja - The inspector-general of police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun on Thursday, September 4, approved the appointment of Benjamin Hundeyin as the new spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The update was given in a statement signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the NPF's outgoing spokesperson, obtained by Legit.ng.

Hundeyin emerges police spokesman

Until his present appointment, Hundeyin was the police public relations officer (PRO) for the Lagos state police command.

The IGP charged Hundeyin to leverage on his communications and security experience to bolster the NPF's public relations activities and ensure continuous positive relations with the public.

Profile of Benjamin Hundeyin

Hundeyin holds a BA (Hons) in English Language from Lagos State University (LASU) and an MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan (Ui). He also obtained a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Jaji, Kaduna state. He is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a Member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).

A communicator, CSP Hundeyin previously served as the police public relations officer at Zone 2 Command headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, and was part of the Nigerian contingent to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID) in 2020. Also, he served as the administration officer at the force public relations department, Force headquarters, Abuja. Until his present appointment, he was the police public relations officer for the Lagos state police command.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi moved to Delta

Legit.ng reports that Egbetokun removed Adejobi from his position as the force public relations officer after three years in office.

Adejobi has also been promoted from assistant commissioner of police (ACP) to deputy commissioner of police.

Adejobi previously served as the spokesperson for the Lagos state police command before his appointment in an acting capacity on February 16, 2022, taking over from deputy commissioner of police, Frank Mba.

In the latest development, Adejobi has been deployed to Delta state as deputy commissioner of police, operations. DCP Adejobi was decorated with his new rank following the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
