NNPP Chieftain Writes US Embassy Over Visa Denial, Demands Review

The legal team of the Nigerian businessman and the 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Ogun state, Olufemi Ajadi, has written to the United States Embassy in Lagos, demanding a review of the recent visa denial that was issued to him and his wife, Oyindamola Motunrola.
This was disclosed in a letter issued on August 18, 2025, by the law firm, Izunya Izunya & Co., led by Barrister Isaac Izunya, which urged the embassy to review its decision, which was based on the US Immigration and Nationality Act, Section 214(b).
The letter was addressed to the Consular General of the US at 2 Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos, while the US ambassador to Nigeria in Abuja was also copied.

US embassy urged to review Ajadi's application
According to the petition, the denial is "unsubstantiated", and the embassy was urged to review the applicant's documents and interview records. The legal team said it was concerned about the lack of a specific reason for the denial, adding that it did not include the names, application number or passport information of the applicants.
Vanguard reported that the legal team representing the Ajadis disclosed that the family applied for business visas after an official invitation from Tunnad Properties, a U.S.-based real estate firm. It added that the relevant documents, including the invitation letter, which was dated May 15, 2025, were equally submitted.
Also, the couple reportedly attended the visa interview at the Abuja office of the US Embassy. Unfortunately, they were denied visa approval on August 4, 2025, under Section 214(b). The section stressed the intention of the applicant to return to their home country.
Ajadi's lawyer speaks on visa saga
Barrister Izunya argued that the decision of the US Embassy lacked a specific justification and made three requests, namely a review of the CCTV and audio recordings from the visa interview, reassessment of all submitted documents, and provision of clear reasons if the refusal stands.
According to the legal team, the two applicants maintained major business and familiar connections to Nigeria. It added that they also have investments in Grenada and the United Kingdom. They argued that these connections were enough grounds for the embassy to reconsider them.

Ajadi reacts to Tinubu, Kwankwaso's meetings
Legit.ng earlier reported that Olufemi Ajadi reacted to the defection rumour of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party's presidential candidate in the last election.
Ajadi, in an interview with Legit.ng, explained that Kwankwaso has the right to make political decisions, but he would have to reassess the timing and reason if he were to join him.
The NNPP governorship candidate then disclosed what he would do should the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement decide to join the APC and President Bola Tinubu's camp.
