The Nigerian government has begun phase 2 of the Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF) to offer large-scale investment of up to $100,000 for creative persons and businesses.

The fund is a critical national investment scheme to boost the creative sector and recognises its potential as a driver of economic growth and cultural diplomacy.

Benefits of the fund

According to reports, the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy announced the rollout of the CEDF, a landmark scheme to empower businesses and individuals in the creative space.

It is also a strategic national investment designed to unlock Nigeria’s vast potential in the creative space and grow it as a means for economic growth and cultural diplomacy.

How to apply & deadline

Interested Nigerians in fashion design, filmmakers and directors,

gaming studios, cultural tourism providers, and training institutions have until the end of August to apply by visiting the CEDF website.

The federal government launched the first phase in June 2025 and empowered several businesses with N160 million.

The application for phase one closed on May 30, 2025, while the second phase, targeting SMEs and startups, will launch on August 4, 2025.

The fund targets writers and publishers, artists, fashion designers, filmmakers and directors, gaming studios, cultural tourism providers, media and digital platforms, local logistics, and training providers.

FG rolls out ₦250,000 free grants for MSMEs

Legit.ng earlier reported that Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has unveiled the Federal Government’s state-of-the-art information, communication and technology centre for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MESME) in Cross River state.

This is part of the current administration’s drive to empower entrepreneurs with tools and skills for work.

The unveiling also coincided with the 8th Expanded National MSME Clinics, which brought together federal government agencies, such as CAC, NAFDAC, BOI, and SMEDAN, to tackle business owners’ challenges on-site.
