The Public Space Tracker praised NUPRC for its "remarkable openness, policy innovation, and integrity" in managing Nigeria's upstream petroleum resources since Komolafe took office.
The Commission is viewed as a model for regulatory agencies in a democracy, proving that transparency in resource governance is a measurable and achievable practice.
Clear data restores stakeholder confidence
Dr. Ousman Zaharadeen, Convener of the Public Space Tracker, noted that NUPRC, under Komolafe, has provided clear data on oil production, licensing, royalties, and revenue remittances. This transparency has significantly boosted confidence among investors, civil society organisations, and citizens.
Purposeful leadership drives efficiency, trust
Zaharadeen emphasised that Komolafe's purposeful leadership demonstrates how a government institution can achieve both transparency and efficiency.
NUPRC excels in publishing credible information, engaging sincerely with stakeholders, and ensuring fair and accountable management of Nigeria's petroleum resources, making it the most transparent agency in Nigeria.
Publishing industry statistics, fostering trust
The group highlighted NUPRC's consistent publication of industry statistics, compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and regular engagements with communities, operators, and civil society.
These actions have enhanced public accountability and Nigeria's global image in resource governance.
Reducing opacity, curbing corruption
According to Zaharadeen, NUPRC's transparency initiatives have effectively reduced the historical opacity and corruption in Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
By leading reforms in upstream petroleum regulation, the Commission is guiding Nigeria towards greater energy justice and fiscal discipline.
Curbing leakages, boosting government revenue
The Commission's insistence on real-time crude oil production monitoring and strong regulatory oversight has significantly curbed leakages and increased government revenues.
Its engagement with host communities also exemplifies people-centred and inclusive extractive governance.
Critical to production, revenue improvement
Public Space Tracker commended NUPRC's collaborative approach to combating oil theft, recognising its critical role in recent improvements in production and revenue generation.
Credibility attracts serious-minded investors
NUPRC's operational openness has earned it credibility both domestically and internationally.
This has made Nigeria more attractive to serious investors, who can clearly see that rules are consistent, clear, and fairly applied.
Emulating transparency, rebuilding public trust
The organisation urged other government agencies to adopt NUPRC's approach, stressing that transparency and accountability are vital for rebuilding citizens' trust in governance.
Strengthening institutions, benefiting citizens
Zaharadeen stated that Nigeria needs regulators in every sector to match NUPRC's example. This is about measurable actions that strengthen institutions, reassure investors, and ultimately benefit ordinary citizens.
Sustaining transparency for fiscal strength
Public Space Tracker expressed confidence that under Komolafe's leadership, NUPRC will continue to deepen transparency, strengthen Nigeria's fiscal base, and drive the country's transition towards a more accountable resource economy.
