Security Agents Nab Four Suspected Boko Haram Members In Kano

Following the recent female suicide bombings in Kano, four suspected Boko Haram members were reportedly arrested yesterday, July 29, in the state.

The arrest came on the heels of an operation carried out by officers of the Nigerian Army and the Directorate of State Security (DSS) in the early hours of the day.

Credible sources from both security agencies told Daily Sun that the suspects were picked up during different operations in Hotoro General Area and in Mariri General Area of Kumbotso Local Government Council of the state.

A 70-year-old man, simply identified as Ibrahim, was among those arrested. Others arrested include Bello, Nura and Zakari.

Meanwhile, the leaders of Kano non-indigenes, under the aegis of  Non-Indigenes Community Leaders Association, have called for calm and restrain following rising anger among the communities over repeated bomb blasts in the area.

In the last three days, about three deadly attacks have been launched in Kano. On Sunday, 27 July, attempts to bomb a mosque and a Northwest University in Kano were thwarted by the police in the city.

That same day, five people were killed in another attack at the premises of St. Charles Catholic Church on Zungeru Road in Sabon Gari area of Kano.

On Monday, while Muslims celebrated the Eid-el-Fitri, two deadly attacks were launched. The first one, which occurred at NNPC Mega Filling Station at Hotoro Quarter along Maiduguri road, killed 4, including the suspected female suicide bomber. Hours later another blast rocked Kano shopping mall leaving a female suicide bomber dead and 6 others injured.
